Tomás Urquieta

Tomás has been inspired to make this type of electronic music based on the lessons he learned in his teenage punk, being part of bands, attending shows and knowing more about subculture and its philosophical currents.

Chilean-born, Mexico-city based producer and DJ, Tomás Urquieta creates a seamless mesh of techno, punk, industrial and ambient sounds. He established himself as a music producer releasing several tracks with remixes of M.E.S.H. among them . Soon after that he began his prolific collaboration with Infinite Machine record label which released his ‘Manuscript’ EP in 2015. Widely acclaimed and charismatic ‘La Muerte de Todo Lo Nuevo’ EP followed in 2016 which brought Urquieta to tour Mexico, Europe, where he shared the stage with M.E.S.H., and Chile, where he opened shows for Moderat and Nicholas Jaar. His first LP Dueños de Nada, an 11-track album released on Infinite Machine in 2018 (also on vinyl), became a victory lap. The label described this LP as “wild, futuristic and completely personal.”

He frequently works on several releases in 2020 and plays as a resindent in Yu Yu Mexico City. Tomás Urquieta is premiering his very first life show at Mutek Mexico, November 23 2019.
